Motorola University Views AG Group's Networking Methodology and Packet Analysis Trainings with EtherPeek as Key to Enhancing Networking Staff Skills

WALNUT CREEK, California - August 15, 2000

Motorola is a global leader in providing integrated communications solutions, embedded electronic systems and end-to-end solutions for broadband systems. In its quest to maintain a leadership position, Motorola recognizes the need for, and has developed, numerous training courses to teach people the necessary skills to better understand and implement fundamental networking policies and standards. Delivered through Motorola University (MU), these training courses are essential for Motorola networking and sales professionals to comprehend and market both messaging and satellite communications products and systems, as well as networking and Internet solutions.

AG Group, Inc. a premier provider of network management software and training services, has contracted with Motorola, Inc. to deliver instructor-led training courses that address protocol analysis and network performance and optimization issues through MU. Network Troubleshooting Methodology and IP specific coursework with EtherPeek as the main instructional tool have been incorporated into Motorola University's expansive roster of training courses. Course outlines and descriptions can be viewed in the MU course catalog as NET477 and NET478. This core curriculum was requested by a broad contingent of Motorola employees who wished to gain a better understanding of real-world network troubleshooting as well as to learn how to apply AG GroupÕs EtherPeek, a standard network management tool in Motorola locations throughout the world.

Ricki Dougherty, AG's Training Manager, says the success and high ratings for AG courses stems from the background, professionalism and presentation style of the instructors. "The courses are taught by packet analysis experts with years of knowledge and consulting experience working for major enterprises like HP, Lucent and others. The information presented in the courses can be dry and even tedious if presented in the wrong way. Our instructors provide anecdotal, real-world, and often amusing examples of their own experiences in solving networking issues, which helps participants easily comprehend and relate to the problems and challenges associated with building and maintaining complex networks and their protocols."

Zia R. Siddiqui, an attendee of one of the first AG Group training's delivered through Motorola University, explained the benefits for him of joining the class by noting, "The instructor taught an extremely well-organized course on network management trouble shooting with EtherPeek. The course also served as a very useful introduction to protocol analysis."

Mike Koch, an attendee of both the NET477 and NET478 courses, describes his training experience by saying, "ItÕs one thing for an instructor to have some real world experience under their belt. The AG instructor not only knew how to convey the information to the class, but also shared personal experiences so we could better understand the material and how to apply it outside of the classroom. Both of the AG classes I have attended are now definitely on the top of my recommendation list. They are great courses for anyone who would like to learn about the TCP/IP protocol suite and networking protocols in general, using a high-class packet-capturing tool like EtherPeek. Overall, I was very impressed with the courses presented by the AG Group."

Motorola University. Listed AG Group Course Descriptions:

NET477

Participants will learn all of the features and capabilities of the EtherPeek software through class lecture and in depth hands-on exercises, and also learn the fundamentals of Ethernet network analysis, including 10 and 100 Mb/sec Ethernet engineering.

NET478

Participants will learn how the core IP protocols and the TCP and UDP transport layers operate in today's complex network architectures.
