WildPackets Hires V.P. of Engineering

WALNUT CREEK, California - January 2, 2001

WildPackets, a leading provider of cross-platform network tools and training, today announced the addition of Bill Northlich as Vice President of Engineering. Mr. Northlich has extensive experience in network design, implementation, and management from roles as consultant, entrepreneur, and Vice President of Engineering for several key IT and venture capital companies. He was a founder of Kinetics and a pioneer designer, building the first implementation of AppleTalk on Ethernet (AARP and EtherTalk Phase I). At Novell he worked directly for Kanwal Rehki, currently President of Indus Entrepreneurs. After Novell he was Vice President of Engineering at OnLive! Technologies, a virtual reality company, then occupied the same position at Triada Corporation, a business intelligence company which landed a $7 million contract with Ford Motor Company to develop automated discovery of failure modes in noisy and unreliably generated warranty data. At both OnLive! Technologies and Triada, he assembled world-class product delivery teams in a very short period of time.

"There's no question that Bill has been a positive force and a pillar of the industry for many years," said WildPackets Executive Director Timothy McCreery. "We are fortunate to have a person of his caliber join us in our efforts to revolutionize this market."

In the last year, Bill consulted with Cohera Corporation, a "federated" database company, and with GameChange, Inc., a venture fund and incubator, created as a joint venture between Softbank Ventures and Anderson Consulting.

WildPackets President and CEO Mahboud Zabetian stated: "As we proceed towards becoming one of the biggest players in the network software and professional services market, adding seasoned professionals to management has been a priority, and Bill is exactly the type of senior management we¹ve been looking for."
