WildPackets recently announced the intended acquisition of long-time training partner Optimized Engineering Corporation (OEC). "The acquisition of OEC is a strategic move to expand our market position," says Janice Spampinato, VP of Sales and Marketing. "WildPackets Academy is the first offspring of the soon-to-be merged organizations, providing a structure for housing WildPackets training courses and the NAX Certification Program." WildPackets Academy currently offers four courses ranging from "Foundations of Protocol Analysis Engineering" to "Network Troubleshooting Methods, Using EtherPeek" to "TCP/IP Protocol Analysis" and "Advanced TCP/IP Analysis." Two new classes have been added to the 2001 course calendar beginning in the second quarter. They include the WP-106 "Wireless Network Protocol Analysis" course, which will cover detailed protocol behavior and troubleshooting methods for wireless implementations, and the WP-105 "AppleShare IP and Mac OS/X Protocol Analysis Methods" course, which will teach internal Apple protocol operations. "WLAN deployment and Mac OS/X integration are creating new challenges for IT professionals and network engineers. WildPackets is ready to meet those challenges with our protocol analysis tools and in the classroom," states Joe Bardwell, WildPackets' Vice President of Professional Services. The Academy's NAX Certification Program is comprised of five separate courses and a series of graduated examinations. The Program provides a structured path for acquiring and demonstrating individual expertise in network protocol analysis for Ethernet, AppleTalk, Mac OS/X, TCP/IP and 802.11 Wireless LAN protocols.
