WildPackets Introduces AiroPeek NX™

Wireless Analyzer Delivers Real-Time, Expert Diagnostics

Walnut Creek, California - April 2, 2002

WildPackets Inc., developers of a complete family of network and Internet management tools, announced the release of AiroPeek NX, their Real-Time Expert WLAN Analyzer. AiroPeek NX combines expert analysis capabilities with WildPackets' wireless LAN analysis technology, allowing IT professionals to manage every segment of their extended network with powerful problem detection heuristics and 802.11-specific diagnostic capabilities.

AiroPeek NX ships with a Security Audit Template that creates a capture window and triggers a notification when a packet matches any of a number of custom security filters. The security template includes many pre-defined filters that look for common Wireless LAN security issues. The software also includes key VoIP analysis, enhanced decodes, a graphical signal strength meter, on-the-fly and post-capture WEP decryption, and many new expert features.

AiroPeek NX Unique Features

AiroPeek NX is a full-featured packet analyzer for IEEE 802.11 wireless LANs, used for site surveys, security audits, and WLAN network management and troubleshooting. It features a real-time expert system that provides automatic problem identification and analysis of each network device, providing descriptions of behavior indicative of network, client, server, router, or infrastructure problems. AiroPeek NX currently supports a broad range of 802.11b cards, and support for Atheros 802.11a chipset has been announced for Q2, 2002. AiroPeek NX requires Windows 2000 or XP. To optimize overall performance, a 600 MHz processor with 256 MB RAM or better is the recommended configuration.
