FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE For Public Relations: ronnie@WildPackets.com For Sales: sales@WildPackets.com Belgian Army Selects WildPackets' EtherPeek NX As Key Training ToolCIS Academy to Instruct Future Network Engineers with Award-Winning Expert AnalyzerWalnut Creek, CA - June 17, 2002 WildPackets Inc., developers of EtherPeek NX, Network Magazine's 2002 "Product of the Year" award-winner, announced that their real-time expert analyzer has been selected as a key instructional tool for the Belgian Army's Communications & Information Systems (CIS) Academy. The academy will soon be known as the CIS Academy of the Department of Defense. With 40,000 personnel in Belgian Defense (Land, Air, Navy & Medical Components) in disparate locations connected by many network segments, the scale and complexity involved in managing and troubleshooting each LAN requires well- trained IT personnel equipped with expert, easy-to-use analysis tools. Once trained by the CIS Academy, officers and technicians go on to manage the Defense Department's Intranet, which ties to other large networks such as NATO's. "EtherPeek NX completely amazed me with its capabilities," says First Lieutenant Olivier Thonnard, network instructor for the Belgian Army. "As soon as I saw it, I knew this was a tool our trainees must know about." EtherPeek NX performs problem diagnosis automatically and enables network managers to ensure data integrity, information delivery, system reliability, and security of intelligence and enterprise networks. Lt. Thonnard found its analysis capabilities, alarm notifications, statistics, and decodes invaluable, and plans to use it initially in his Ethernet and TCP/IP courses. About EtherPeek NX EtherPeek NX was awarded "Product of the Year" in the packet analyzer category by Network Magazine in April 2002, and the "Well-Connected" award from Network Computing magazine in May 2002. Carefully designed to assist IT Professionals in analyzing and diagnosing increasingly large and diverse volumes of network data, NX' Expert Analysis features track dozens of separate aspects of network performance, showing the source of problems at the packet level. The Expert View provides expert analysis of latency, throughput, and dozens of network problems in a conversation-centered view of traffic. The Peer Map creates a map of conversations, showing traffic volume and protocol information for each pair of nodes. As with all WildPackets' "Peek" products, EtherPeek NX has the ability to open multiple live capture windows, each with independent expert and Peer Map analysis.
