WildPackets Partners with Planet3 Wireless to Deliver Hands-on Wireless Training

WildPackets Academy to Become Certified Wireless Education Center (CWEC)

Walnut Creek, CA - October 16, 2002

WildPackets Inc., industry-leaders in LAN and wireless LAN packet analysis software development, training and support, announced a partnership between WildPackets Academy, their professional training organization, and Planet3 Wireless, Inc, creator of the Certified Wireless Network Professional (CWNP™) training and certification program. Planet3 Wireless uses AiroPeek, WildPackets' 802.11 Wireless LAN packet analyzer, as a key instructional tool in its certification courseware. WildPackets Academy and Planet3 Wireless are also co-developing an advanced, hands-on 802.11 wireless network analysis and troubleshooting course as part of the Certified Wireless Networking Expert (CWNE™) certification.

WildPackets Academy will be a Certified Wireless Education Center (CWEC), delivering instructor-led CWNP training classes domestically. The CWNP Training & Certification Program consists of four levels of curriculum and certification:

• CWNA™ (Certified Wireless Network Administrator™)
• CWSP™ (Certified Wireless Security Professional™)
• CWNI™ (Certified Wireless Network Integrator™)
• CWNE™ (Certified Wireless Networking Expert™)

The CWNA curriculum will be available through WildPackets Academy beginning in the first quarter of 2003. The CWNA curriculum and certification exam have been endorsed by the Wireless LAN Association (www.wlana.org), and by NACSE (www.nacse.com). It is also accepted for 35 CEC hours by BICSI (www.bicsi.com). The CWSP exam and curriculum will also be available in the first quarter, and represents the first Wireless Security certification to be offered into the IT industry. The supporting curriculum for CWSP will offer hands-on training in OSI Model Layer 2 and Layer 3 hardware and software solutions for wireless LAN security. CWNI and CWNE courseware will be introduced later in the year.
