WildPackets Introduces AiroPeek™ NX v2.0

Comprehensive WLAN Analysis Solution Adds Multi-mode a/b/g Support, Enhanced Security Audit Features, RFGrabber™ Distributed WLAN Analysis

Walnut Creek, CA - April 17, 2003

WildPackets Inc., innovators in affordable network analysis solutions, announced a new release of AiroPeek NX Expert WLAN analyzer with features that make it the optimum tool for securing and analyzing a complete wireless LAN infrastructure. Support of new wireless security standards such as 802.1x and WPA, multi-mode 802.11a/b/g cards, the SSID Tree providing an intuitive and complete wireless network view, auditing for wireless security protection, and expanded wireless expert diagnoses are just a few of the enhancements incorporated in this new version.

"Our charter for the new AiroPeek NX release is to fundamentally change the way WLAN analysis is done," states Dovid Coplon, AiroPeek Product Manager. "We have worked long and hard to develop this comprehensive and intuitive solution with new logical displays, remote analysis, expert diagnosis and powerful security capabilities."

Beyond support for RFGrabber distributed analysis, 23 expert diagnoses have been added in the areas of configuration, connectivity, intrusion detection, rogue access, denial of service, and man-in-the-middle attacks. The SSID Tree window tracks dozens of characteristics such as channel, encryption state, authentication scheme, signal and noise dBm, plus throughput statistics. The SSID Tree also adds the ability to define "trust" for each node within the name table in order to easily spot rogue clients and access points. Another facet of v2.0 is the rich graphing capability, which is able to track multiple data points simultaneously. The decoding engine has also been significantly improved with the addition of new decoders as well as the ability to comprehensively decode protocols even when they are tunneled.

AiroPeek NX v2.0 provides support for the largest array of 802.11a, 802.11b and 802.11g adapters of any wireless analyzer. These include Cisco Systems AIR-CB20A Wireless LAN PC Card, D-Link AirPlus Xtreme G DWL-G650 and DWL-G520 Adapters, NetGear, Linksys, and many others. Another important advance is the unique support for the simultaneous analysis of different channels or standards through support for multiple adapters.

AiroPeek NX v2.0 and the RFGrabber Distributed WLAN Analysis Solution will be demonstrated at NetWorld+Interop in Las Vegas later this month in booth 6949.
