WildPackets Launches New Omni³™ Distributed Analysis System

Promotional Preview provides "First Peek" at Evolutionary Architecture

Walnut Creek, CA - November 18, 2003

WildPackets Inc., innovators in the science of network analysis, announced the release of OmniPeek™ and Peek DNX™, the first two components of the new Omni³ Distributed Analysis System, to Promotional Preview customers. Built upon WildPackets’ EtherPeek NX technology, Omni³ extends Expert local analysis capabilities to remote network segments throughout the enterprise, delivering the results in real-time to a central network console.

The Omni³ Platform can be deployed on existing hardware or rackmount servers, and is extensible with new applications, custom interfaces, and legacy system integration. "WildPackets is bringing a fresh perspective to distributed network management," said Dovid Coplon, Omni³ Product Manager. "With Omni³, WildPackets is making good on its promise to provide better information on more of the network to more people. We’re also enabling enterprises to establish a long-term strategy for total network coverage with a vendor that values customer input and works with our users to build the future of network analysis."

"Integration is the first step in easing a network manager's job. They need better integration of the tools they use to monitor and manage more of a network in a single process," stated Infonetics Research Analyst Richard Webb. "WildPackets is making it possible to integrate in-depth analysis tools with major network management systems, and to customize those tools for specific needs as they arise."

About OmniPeek and Peek DNX

Omni³ extends real-time troubleshooting across the entire network. In its initial release, the Omni³ Platform incorporates the OmniPeek Console, the Omni³ Engine, and the Peek DNX distributed Expert Analysis Application that runs on the Omni³ Engine. OmniPeek can attach to multiple Engines to analyze and compare network segment performance. Additionally, each OmniPeek Console supports multiple unique simultaneous sessions. From one OmniPeek Console, a network engineer can perform local analysis while accessing Peek DNX-equipped Engines anywhere in the world. Results from the analysis done by the distributed Expert Application are transferred to OmniPeek. Transferred data is compressed, encrypted, and optimized for network utilization. The Omni³ Engine currently supports 10/100/1000 Ethernet, and will soon support 802.11 and WildPackets’ GigaPeek™ Analyzer Card. On the Net: http://www.wildpackets.com/products/omni/overview
