WildPackets Ships Omni³™ v2.0

Wireless, WAN and Omnipliance™ Added to Distributed Platform

Walnut Creek, CA - November 16, 2004

WildPackets Inc., innovator in advanced network services fault analysis, today announced the release of its Omni³ v2.0 distributed network fault analysis platform. With the addition of wireless and WAN support, version 2.0 extends real-time troubleshooting across the entire network and all topologies, managed from a single console. Omnipliance, a new turnkey hardware platform optimized end-to-end for Gigabit Ethernet and WAN analysis, will be released concurrently.

"As the complexity, size and number of remote sites encompassed within a network environment increase, our ability to maintain a functional and secure network environment depends upon our ability to remotely monitor distance sites," said Dr. Steven Erde, Senior Director, Office of Academic Computing & Chief Security Officer, Cornell University Medical Center. "While remote SNMP monitoring tools provide some information, Omni³ gives us an integrated suite of tools that quickly reveal the source of problems anywhere on our network from a single console. WildPackets has taken the elegant user interface of EtherPeek, our favorite network analysis tool, and enhanced it to manage multiple remote capture engines, and consolidate the data for analysis."

Version 2.0 of the Omni³ network service fault analysis platform is the first product to enable network-wide fault analysis on any network segment -- WAN, LAN, or WLAN -- from a single console. The platform now supports all types of networks, from WAN links to Gigabit Ethernet to 10/100 and wireless LANs, and offers breakthrough Visual Expert features that allow network engineers to find and fix service outages far more quickly than ever before.

"There are many tools that allow network engineers to troubleshoot network issues, but business welfare depends on the speed with which those issues can be diagnosed and corrected." said Jeffrey Nudler, senior analyst at Enterprise Management Associates. "By enabling seamless network-wide troubleshooting across both wired and wireless transports with cohesive visualization tools incorporated into the product, Omni³ version 2.0 raises the industry’s bar for helping businesses to identify and resolve complex network services quickly and efficiently."

About Omni³ v2.0

The Omni³ advanced fault analysis platform offers real-time troubleshooting and visibility into every part of the network, desktop to the datacenter, from a single location. Using Omni³'s centralized console, distributed engines, and expert analysis, administrators can rapidly restore essential services and maximize network uptime. The Omni³ platform offers enterprises an easily deployed, easily managed, and affordable solution for network services fault analysis (www.wildpackets.com/products/omni3).

New Visual Expert features and customizable real-time distributed graphing enables 24/7 monitoring to track, time synchronize, and visually correlate network events.

New WLAN and WAN support means that multiple topologies can be monitored from one location with wireless managed as an extension of wired networks.

The new Omnipliance high-performance turnkey solution enables multiple simultaneous segment analyses, with accurate hardware-based time-stamping and rapid network configuration via LCD. Pre-loaded with Peek DNX™ and Windows Server 2003, the Omnipliance is available with multiple options for full-duplex Gigabit and WAN.

"Our focus has always been to not only provide detailed information about network service faults, but to do so in a way that maximizes business productivity by making it easier to identify and fix problems," said Mahboud Zabetian, President and CEO of WildPackets. "With Omni³ version 2.0, we are once again advancing the state of network analysis by making it possible to see exactly what’s going on in any network segment at any time with a single integrated platform."
