WildPackets Delivers First Expert VoWiFi Analyzer

AiroPeek VX Release Supports WPA-PSK, Voice Analysis and GPS Data

Walnut Creek, California, August 22, 2005 – WildPackets Inc., innovators in advanced network analysis, today announced the release of AiroPeek SE and AiroPeek NX v.3.0 wireless LAN analyzers, and the introduction of AiroPeek VX, the company's new expert VoWiFi (Voice over Wireless) analyzer that looks at packet-level details of RTP and RTCP streams and evaluates packet delay variations, packet loss, jitter, and computes industry-standard R-Factor and Predictive MOS scores for each call.

All three product releases include support for Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA) with Pre-Shared Key (PSK) encryption and presentations of a variety of GPS data. The announcement coincides with the onset of a global press tour and partner meetings in Korea and Japan by WildPackets' CEO, Mahboud Zabetian.

"We chose to begin our global tour in the Pacific Rim, where we have enjoyed widespread adoption of our Wireless LAN analysis technology since first shipping AiroPeek in 2001," said Zabetian. "We believe our customers in the region, and all wireless network engineers, will find our new AiroPeek VX product and the expert analytics, security policy features, and GPS data capture included in all three product releases to be extremely valuable for managing and securing their wireless and voice networks."

The AiroPeek NX and VX releases also include WildPackets' proprietary Visual ExpertTM that visually dissects conversations into basic components, revealing the intricacies of application behavior. All three products include broad GPS support, a feature added to the product to satisfy a large customer demand. The GPS features incorporated into the new releases include:

  • GPS Time, Latitude, Longitude, Altitude and Speed in the packet display
  • Ability to capture data with or without GPS integration
  • Ability to detect if the GPS is not in contact with its satellites
  • Ability to export packet capture data including GPS values into a comma- delimited file suitable for import into other applications
  • Ability to produce a report showing a log of the walk/drive path taken with the PC and GPS
  • Ability to display the privacy bit for wireless management packets
  • Ability to select SSID from the list of packet fields and display it in the Packet view.

All three products are scheduled to ship at the end of August.

About the AiroPeek Product Line

AiroPeek SE, a comprehensive packet analyzer for IEEE 802.11 wireless LANs, is designed to identify and solve wireless network anomalies. It quickly isolates security problems, fully decodes all 802.11 WLAN protocols, and analyzes wireless network performance with accurate identification of signal strength, channel and data rates.

AiroPeek NX expert wireless LAN analyzer covers the full spectrum of wireless LAN management requirements, including site surveys, security assessments, client troubleshooting, WLAN monitoring, remote WLAN analysis, and application layer protocol analysis. AiroPeek NX is the only wireless analyzer that allows a user to perform simultaneous analysis of more than one channel or Standard through its support of multiple adapters.

AiroPeek VX offers both wireless and VoIP diagnostics in real time. It includes Application Response Time (ART) analysis, full 7-layer decodes, alarms, and triggers. The product provides per-call analytics and supports multiple signaling protocols. The media plane analysis looks at packet-level details of RTP and RTCP streams and evaluates packet delay variations, packet loss, jitter, and provides passive MOS scores for each call.
