WildPackets helps Great Plains Communications Monitor Telecommunications Across Nebraska

OmniPeek prevents outages by notifying network administrators of viruses and bandwidth issues on the network

Walnut Creek, Calif. - July 1, 2008 – WildPackets® Inc., a leading provider of network and application analysis solutions, today announced that Great Plains Communications, the largest Nebraska-owned telecommunications provider, has deployed OmniPeek to monitor its networks in 85 cities across Nebraska.

As broadband and high-speed data technology is available in all the regions served by Great Plains Communications, it was critical they find a solution that would provide a holistic view of the entire network to monitor surges and malware in their customers’ LAN, WAN and VoIP traffic. With OmniPeek, the company has gained insight into the entire network and saved hours of downtime by quickly identifying issues before they become serious problems.

“As an ISP, we need to constantly monitor the health of our network. Customers with viruses on their computers can cause service problems in the town they are in and sometimes other towns around them,” said Dave Junker, network engineer at Great Plains Communications. “WildPackets helps us pinpoint network issues as they happen, preventing outages from taking place.”

“The network is the business lifeline for telecommunications providers,” said Tony Barbagallo, vice president of marketing at WildPackets. “With OmniPeek, Great Plains Communications can sift through all network traffic instantly for root cause analysis of any network issue that may occur, to keep their business running smoothly.”

WildPackets’ OmniPeek offers an intuitive graphical dashboard that IT teams can use to promptly analyze and troubleshoot networks, providing centralized expert analysis for all networks under management. With OmniPeek, network engineers can quickly analyze faults from multiple network segments, drill down through multiple layers of analysis and pinpoint problems that need correction.
