Read All About It! The Seattle Times Company Chooses WildPackets for Network Analysis

OmniPeek’s automation and trending functionality saves time and provides comprehensive network visibility

Walnut Creek, Calif. - September 09, 2008 – WildPackets® Inc., a leading provider of network and application analysis solutions, today announced that the Seattle Times Company, owner of the largest daily newspaper and Web site in Washington state, has deployed WildPackets® OmniPeektm to monitor and troubleshoot the company’s network infrastructure across multiple business units, including editorial, production, advertising, printing, circulation and online divisions.

"The paper is a myriad of different networks, making it difficult to manage between departments. We needed an enterprise solution that would capture all network traffic and provide troubleshooting capabilities as well as trend analysis," said Greg Crosby, network systems manager at the Seattle Times Company. "OmniPeek allows us to pinpoint performance issues quickly in an automated fashion, reducing the amount of time required versus the tedious exercise of manual network packet sniffing."

WildPackets OmniPeek offers an intuitive graphical dashboard that IT teams can use to promptly analyze and troubleshoot networks, providing centralized expert analysis for all networks under management. With OmniPeek, network engineers can quickly analyze faults from multiple network segments, drill down through multiple layers of analysis, and pinpoint problems that need correction.

"In the newspaper business today, the health of the network is mission critical for all facets of business operations," said Tony Barbagallo, vice president of marketing at WildPackets. "With hundreds of thousands of Seattle and greater Washington area residents relying on The Seattle Times as their primary source of news and information, OmniPeek plays an important role as it sifts through all network traffic instantly for root cause analysis of any issues that may occur keeping the organization running smoothly."
