WildPackets Routes Web Traffic for Charity

WildPackets website encourages donations to Youth Homes, a non-profit agency serving at-risk foster care children in Contra Costa County

WALNUT CREEK, CALIF. — September 22, 2009 — WildPackets, Inc. (www.wildpackets.com), a leading provider of network and application performance analysis solutions, today announced that it is encouraging their more than 100,000 monthly website visitors to donate $2 to Youth Homes, a non-profit organization serving the needs of abused and neglected children and adolescents in Contra Costa County. These efforts work to offset the recent $140,000 cut from Youth Homes' funding due to the California budget crisis.

"Thousands of people each day are downloading our drivers," said Tim McCreery, President and CEO at WildPackets. "So, we're more than happy to use the WildPackets website for a good cause and encourage visitors to contribute just a little to a worthwhile organization like Youth Homes."

Youth Homes is the oldest, continually operating residential facility for foster youth in Contra Costa County. The organization serves more than 400 children and their families each year; all of the foster youth the agency serves are considered at the poverty level.

"The gap between government funding and the actual cost of services continues to widen. Effective October 2009, funding for foster care families was reduced by 10% and the Youth Homes' contract to provide crisis and emergency shelter care for foster children was cut," said Stuart McCullough, Executive Director of Youth Homes. "Through hard work to raise private donations, we've been able to absorb 25% of the cost, but there’s still a large void left. We're grateful for organizations like WildPackets who not only contribute themselves, but actively encourage others to do so as well."
