Walnut Creek and San Mateo, Calif. - April 12, 2011 - WildPackets, Inc. and VSS Monitoring today announced a strategic and technical partnership to provide a joint integration solution for real-time, packet-level visibility into network traffic.
Using VSS Monitoring's API, WildPackets has developed software to receive detailed packet timestamp information from VSS' Distributed Traffic Capture Systems™ for use in WildPackets' popular OmniPeek® network analysis products. The solution gives customers a highly granular measure in real time of how long it takes one or more packets to be received at one or multiple points. This capability is essential to troubleshooting network performance issues as well as in assuring service levels in new deployments.
"The integrated solution announced today provides a significant advance in delivering a new level of visibility and control for the monitoring and management of enterprise networks," said Tony Barbagallo, vice president of marketing at WildPackets. "The tight coupling of OmniPeek analysis with VSS Monitoring's distributed traffic capture technology allows our companies to provide even higher-value product offerings going forward."
"WildPackets' OmniPeek is a recognized network analysis market leader," said Lisa Sieker, VSS Monitoring vice president of marketing. "The combination of VSS and WildPackets technologies is a powerful new way to achieve network visibility, meeting the real world needs of performance, security, and ROI. Our integrated strategic and technical relationship will deliver this advantage to more customers than ever."
OmniPeek gives network engineers real-time visibility and expert analysis into every part of the network from a single interface, including Ethernet, Gigabit, 10 Gigabit, 802.11a/b/g/n wireless, VoIP, and Video to remote offices. OmniPeek users can monitor, analyze and troubleshoot in real time, as well as perform detailed post-mortem analysis without having to copy large packet files over the network and load them locally.
VSS Monitoring's Distributed Traffic Capture Systems break the practice of a 1:1 relationship between the monitoring tool and a network link. Distributed traffic capture abstracts the traffic to be monitored into a traffic capture layer, allowing it to be optimized in real time for the monitoring infrastructure. These operations may include filtering, conditional packet slicing, microburst measurement and load balancing in addition to time stamping. These capabilities give tools such as OmniPeek complete access to any network link from anywhere.
