Letter from the Editor
It's hard to believe it is already June. A busy month at WildPackets, May just seemed to fly by! We released our latest update to OmniPeek – version 7.9.5 – the industry's first product with Wi-Fi analysis solution for gigabit WLANs. Additionally, we attended Cisco Live! in San Francisco. It was great to be at the show and meet so many people. We had a lot of interesting conversations about network monitoring, especially it's importance in light of the latest in a line of high profile breaches – eBay.
We also had many about 802.11ac. After all, there are many questions to consider with new enterprise 802.11ac deployments. Is your WLAN analyzer ready to handle the flood of Wi-Fi traffic that comes with 802.11ac gigabit WLANs? Is 802.11ac WLAN turning out to be a huge step forward for wireless bandwidth, but a step backward for WLAN management visibility? Do your Wi-Fi Analyzer tools claim to keep up with the new gigabit WLAN networks but end up falling short? WildPackets has the best practices and tools for monitoring gigabit WLANs. Learn more here
We're nearly halfway through 2014 now, and one of the biggest stories of the year has been network security. From the Target breach to the new eBay security incident, it seems these stories are constantly in the news. At WildPackets, we've kept a close eye on these events via our blog. But today, we hope you'll also visit our new security microsite, where you can learn best practices using network forensics to pinpoint and characterize security attacks quickly. Getting to the Bottom of the eBay Breach
In the aftermath of the eBay breach, there have been numerous articles in the media examining what eBay could have done to prevent the breach, better ways that they could have reacted to the breach, and recommendations for eBay users who think they may have been affected by the breach. But as we learn more about the fallout from the eBay attack, one thing is clear – network forensics could have played a crucial role in answering some of the still unanswered questions about the breach. Read our blog on how Network Forensics could have been used to fully understand what problems have taken place and how to solve them here.

Webinar: Gigabit WLANs Need Gigabit WLAN Analysis
The new IEEE 802.11ac standard is changing the rules when it comes WLAN troubleshooting based on packet capture and analysis. No one disagrees that packet-based analysis is the most complete and most accurate when it comes to WLAN troubleshooting, but the software, equipment, and processes required to perform packet-based analysis are being challenged by 802.11ac. Attend this webinar to discover how 802.11ac is changing the rules for packet-based WLAN analysis, and what you can do about it.. Join us for this informative webinar.
