WHITE PAPER: NETWORK FORENSICS: HOW TO OPTIMIZE YOUR DIGITAL INVESTIGATION

You need to be able to respond to current network attacks as well as to prevent future attacks. Three basic elements to a classic network forensics solution aid your ability: Data capture; Data discovery; and Data analysis.

As attackers move from splash to stealth, today's forensic analysis solutions should include a fourth basic element - Data record. Learn how augmenting the three basic elements with a solution such as the WildPackets Omnipliance Network Recorder - extends your ability to capture data and reduces the time to determine how an attack occurred. This paper covers three phases of digital investigation: separating network data, performing packet drill-down, and enumerating the data. Download today.

Product Tips and Tricks

A Few Basic Filters Can Be Better Than One Big Filter
By Jeff Trawick, WildPackets Professional Services

When building filters in the OmniPeek Network Analyzer, there's often a temptation to build complex filters containing multiple conditions connected by several AND/OR/NOT operators. When building common isolation filters they often include several conditions, like node address or address range, protocol, port, wireless channel, and so forth.

This tip talks about building individual filters for each elementary filter condition, and then combining those conditions as needed using the power of the Filter Bar so that you don't need to constantly repeat your work. Read more.

Short Rule

Psst...Don't remember anything about the Filter Bar? Then, vote for "How to Use the Filter Bar" as the next FragMentor tutorial.
