LETTER FROM THE EDITOR

Things are heating up around here (and drying out - we've hopefully seen an end to the crazy rain we saw earlier in the Spring). We just wrapped up our Winter Webinar series, seeing our highest attendance to date. We're hoping to build on its success with our next series. You'll have to wait 'til later this summer for more details.

And speaking of new content, the results are in from our content survey! Thanks to everyone who participated. Look for new webinars and white papers on Network Forensics, 10 Gigabit Networks, and Cyber Security Attack Analysis coming soon.

We're continuing to add new videos to our YouTube channel. If you're looking for a video how-to on a particular solution or product, check out our Video How-To's page. We've organized our videos into categories for easier access.

Our Professional Services and Engineering teams have been busy since our last newsletter developing new OnDemand Online Training and releasing WildPackets Compass (standalone), a free interactive network forensics dashboard utility. (NOTE: If you have OmniPeek Enterprise or OmniPeek Professional, you'll want to use the tightly integrated version of Compass rather than the standalone version.)

Heading to Interop next week? Be sure to stop by booth 639 and say hi.

Sincerely,
Eden Signature

ONDEMAND WEBCAST: A Confluence of Flows - Keeping Your Head Above Water

confluence of flowsJust about everyone, or at least everyone interested in network monitoring and analysis, has heard of NetFlow and sFlow. But do you really know how the process works, from initial data generation at the network device to displaying useful information for human consumption? This sneak peek (no registration required) takes you through the process of collecting and generating flow-based records in network devices, forwarding the data to flow-based collectors, and storing and analyzing the data for detailed network reporting.

Miss last month's webinar? In our OnDemand webcast, Jay Botelho covers:

  • Common techniques used in network monitoring
  • Strengths and weaknesses of current network monitoring technologies
  • The importance of packet-based troubleshooting in today's networks
  • The role of OmniFlow in providing end-to-end network monitoring and analysis

If you want go deeper, check out our free info kit which includes the webcast as well as two white papers, and a the latest version of our NetFlow Analyzer adapter.

VIDEO TUTORIAL

Dissecting NetFlow

NetFlow is the most common technique used in network monitoring and reporting solutions today. Have you ever wondered what's really going on under the covers? What is a flow to begin with? How does a flow differ from a flow record? What does NetFlow data itself look like on my network? What makes NetFlow different from sFlow, JFlow, etc.? This video addresses these and many other detailed questions regarding flow-based monitoring in general and NetFlow specifically. Watch now (Running Time: 11:43).
