Overview

Menu-driven Testing Tools for Internet and IP-based Networks

iNetTools is a collection of menu-driven testing tools for Internet and IP-based networks. iNetTools can be added to OmniPeek's Tool menu during the installation process to provide ready access to the various testing tools from within the program. Menu access to the tools allows you to, for instance, easily send a Ping with iNetTools and watch the transaction with OmniPeek.

Powerful yet simple to use iNetTools:

A menu-driven IP test utility suite available for Windows, iNetTools is comprised of the following tools housed in a single user interface:

Ping:

Times the response to echo request (Ping) packets sent to a device of known origin.

Ping Scan:

Sends echo request (Ping) packets to a range of IP addresses to determine which are currently in use.

Trace Route:

Identifies the intervening steps (or hops) taken by a series of test packets on their way from your computer to any destination device with an IP address. Trace Route shows the time required for each hop along the route and helps to identify where problems lie as well as get a sense of the Internet's topology.

Name Lookup:

Uses DNS to resolve names to IP addresses and IP addresses to names.

Name Scan:

Finds the name of all IP devices for a range of IP addresses.

Port Scan:

Scans a range of ports on a machine for services such as FTP, HTTP, and telnet to determine what is offered.

Service Scan:

Scans a particular port across a range of addresses to see if a given service is offerred at each address (i.e. FTP, HTTP, etc.)

DNS Lookup:

Provides detailed information on Internet hosts. A comprehensive tool for querying Domain Name Servers.

Finger:

Retrieves public information about a specified user on a specified host using the Finger protocol. To get a list of all users currently logged in to a particular host, simply enter that host name.

Throughput:

Tests the rate at which information is downloaded from a specified HTTP or FTP server.

WhoIs:

Internet Directory Information. Uses the WHOIS protocol to get WHOIS information about the owner of a domain name. In addition to its suite of IP network diagnostic tools, iNetTools can present information about the IP setup of the machine on which it is running.

Network IP Configuration

(Windows Only): Shows IP configuration for local machine. Sends the results of IPCONFIG (under Windows 2000, XP, NT) or of WINIPCFG (under Windows 95 or 98) to the default text viewer.

Network Statistics

(Windows Only): Shows routing information and other network details for the local IP segment. Sends the results of the Windows NETSTAT command to the default text viewer.

ARP Cache Content

(Windows Only): Shows any locally-cached results of Address Resolution Protocol requests. Sends the results of the Windows ARP command to the default text viewer.

Internet Port Descriptions:

Opens a dialog which lists internet port numbers and descriptions, downloaded from the IANA (Internet Assigned Numbers Authority) site.

Supported Operating Systems

The recommended operating systems for iNetTools for Windows include Windows 2000 and XP. (Also tested on 98/ME/NT 4.0 Workstation)
