Utility for computing information about IP addresses for PalmOS

Now available for the Palm™ OS! Just like its big brother IP Subnet Calculator for Windows, IPCalc+™ is our version for the Palm OS, featuring complete information about IP addressing including dotted decimal, binary, and hexadecimal representation, comprehensive subnetting information, and more. We've also included functionality for computing bit reversal and binary to decimal to hexadecimal conversion.

The IP Subnet Calculator portion of the IPCalc+

The Info Tab

The Info tab displays relevant information about the IP address under consideration including:

  • Class of the address (A, B, or C).
  • Bit mapping of network and host portions.
  • Binary and hexadecimal representations.

The Subnet Tab

The Subnet tab allows you to select your subnetting policy. Information displayed on this tab includes:

  • Three common representations of subnet masking: subnet bits, subnet mask bits, and dotted decimal subnet mask.
  • Bit mapping of network, subnet, and host portions of the IP address.
  • Range of valid IP addresses on the current subnet.
  • The current subnet's ID and broadcast address.

The Table Tab

The Table tab is comprised of information about all possible subnets such as:

  • The total number of subnets.
  • The number of hosts per subnet.
  • A list of host addresses for each subnet.
  • Subnet IDs and broadcast addresses for each subnet.

The CIDR Tab

The CIDR tab allows you to come up with a supernetting scheme. The following is a list of information presented here:

  • Two representations of the supernet mask: supernet bits and dotted decimal supernet mask.
  • The address (or route) that routers advertise to other routers.
  • The range of IP addresses within the CIDR block.

The Base Converter Tab

The Base Converter tab allows you to quickly and easily convert values between decimal, binary, hexadecimal, and octal base representations. Features of this tab are:

  • Conversion between the four bases as you type so no switching back and forth between bases is required.
  • Number width selector allows you to limit the size of values to 1, 2, or 4 bytes in size.
  • Common edit functions are supported such as cut, copy, paste, and keyboard.

The Bit Swapper Tab

The Bit Swapper tab is a handy feature that allows for these actions:

  • Reversing of bits on a byte by byte basis. This is useful for converting Organizationally Unique Identifiers (OUIs) between Ethernet and Token Ring representations.
  • Reversing of bits over the entire value. This makes the least significant bit (LSB) the most significant bit (MSB) and vice versa.
  • You may enter the value in any of the three fields and the other two reflect changes as you type.
