Wireless Network Analysis |
|
OmniPeek is the only product available today that monitors and analyzes "real world" wireless networks – multiple APs and multiple channels - and simplifies the display and analysis of the information you need to address user issues quickly, efficiently and in some cases, before the user even knows they’re having a problem. OmniPeek provides in-depth analysis of Wireless Traffic using its comprehensive Wireless-specific expert diagnoses and decodes, high-level wireless-specific dashboard view, signal strength analysis, etc. In addition to 802.11a/b/g support, OmniPeek supports 802.11n capture and analysis.
With WatchPoint and OmniPeek, WildPackets addresses the need for portable, simultaneous analysis of wired and wireless network segments, including full support for 802.11n, and for remote monitoring and analysis of both wired and wireless segments.
OmniPeek Wireless Specific Features
Wireless MonitoringWhether in pre-deployment, roll-out or routine usage, you always need a complete overview of the status of your wireless network. OmniPeek provides a comprehensive network monitoring dashboard for wireless networks, including real-time throughput, signal strength, top talkers and current activity. This dashboard is just one example of the award-winning UI and ease-of-use of OmniPeek – a perfect 5 out of 5 in the latest Network World review of wireless network analysis products. Network UsageWireless network usage is highly dynamic, with users frequently coming and going from the network. The WLAN view in OmniPeek provides a comprehensive view of all wireless network activity. Using a hierarchical structure, it breaks down your entire network, showing each wireless network, the APs comprising that network, and the users connected to each AP. The view can be customized to meet your needs, for example showing just APs, just clients or only “unknown” wireless assets – a simple way to identify rogue assets in your network. SecurityAlways of the utmost concern in wireless networks, OmniPeek provides the capabilities you need to ensure your wireless network is configured and operating at the security levels you expect. The encryption level of each AP is clearly reported in the WLAN view, and wireless specific Network Policies can be defined and enabled so that policy violations generate instantaneous alerts. For example, you require that every user on your network uses at least WPA-PSK for all wireless communications. With a few simple clicks you can configure this as your network policy, and OmniPeek will alert you of all instances where WPA-PSK is not being used for data on the wireless network. Expert AnalysisOmniPeek is the Expert, so you don’t have to be. Expert analysis is continuously performed by OmniPeek, per your configuration, looking for any network conditions that you specify. Are you using Voice over wireless (Vo-Fi)? OmniPeek analyzes your network to ensure QoS is properly configured and in use, and looks for excessive roaming times – a critical parameter for high-quality Vo-Fi performance. Or perhaps you suspect Denial of Service (DoS) or de-authentication attacks? OmniPeek continually monitors your network for conditions related to these attacks, alerting you only when such conditions are discovered. Multi-Channel AnalysisWireless clients move from AP to AP, and therefore from channel to channel, with no indication to the user. This can even happen when the user is stationary – a busy AP knocks the user off so the wireless client associates with another AP on another channel. Traditional solutions scan from channel to channel, leaving large gaps in the data. Typical scanning solutions will miss two-thirds of the data as they scan from channel to channel. OmniPeek allows you to capture data from multiple channels simultaneously, and to analyze the data in aggregate. All data from all of the channels can be captured and analyzed in real-time, using simple, inexpensive wireless USB adapters. RoamingRoaming is one of the primary reasons why users experience problems on wireless networks. Excessive roaming times lead to poor quality for Voice and Video over wireless networks, and can lead to dropped calls or dropped data connections. Analysis of roaming requires real-time aggregation of data from multiple channels and multiple APs with integrated analysis that leads to a simple report – who is roaming, how long is each event taking and what does the average look like for each AP. The end result is simple, yet the process is complex. OmniPeek automates the entire task, providing a comprehensive report with all the information required. Ditch that pad, paper and stopwatch and take advantage of the only product on the market today to automate wireless roaming analysis.
