Enterprises are deploying 10 Gigabit networks as backbones or as segments supporting bandwidth-intensive applications such as video production. 10 Gigabit technology increases bandwidth, allows greater data throughput, and provides higher performance than other existing network topologies. However, due to its fast, high-bandwidth nature, when problems occur, the high data rate can make them difficult to troubleshoot. As a result, performance problems and outages can take longer than usual to resolve, and lots of traffic—as well as the business operations that depend on that traffic—can be adversely affected.

OmniAdapter 10G

Capturing Every Packet

WildPackets OmniAdapter 10G is designed to pass network traffic directly to disk, eliminating the need for buffer-handling. OmniAdapter 10G ensures that no packets are lost between the network and storage, and that network engineers have all the data they need for fast, accurate analysis.

Capturing packets at full line rate, the OmniAdapter 10G merges both streams of the full-duplex traffic using synchronized timestamps. The OmniAdapter 10G can also slice and filter packets at full-line rate speeds in order to focus the traffic stream and optimize analysis. The OmniAdapter 10G works in full- or half-duplex environments, fiber, in-line, or via a switch’s port mirror. WildPackets OmniEngine has the ability to do multiple in-line or port mirrors analysis on both sides of a conversation.

OmniAdapter 10G is a high performance, full-duplex 10 Gigabit Network Analyzer Card with 2x10 Gbit/s optical interfaces that has been optimized for monitoring and troubleshooting traffic on 10 Gigabit Ethernet network. It is based on the industry standard PCI-X interface and available with 1x850nm MFF XFP or; 1x1310nm SMF XFP optical transceivers with LC connectors.

Designed for Real-time and post-capture Analysis of 10 Gigabit Traffic

Building on WildPackets’ award-winning network analysis technology, OmniEngine performs real-time network analysis on traffic from one or more network interfaces, including Ethernet, 802.11 a/b/g/n wireless, Gigabit, 10 Gigabit, and WAN. OmniEngine captures and analyzes data in real-time, and records data for post-capture analysis. With WildPackets OmniEngines, network engineers can rapidly troubleshoot faults – even faults occurring at remote locations - without leaving their office.

OmniEngine has been fine-tuned to facilitate processing of 10 Gigabit traffic loads while performing real-time troubleshooting. Adjustable settings in the Performance View allow the user to select optimized performance for the type of analysis required, whether performing real-time analysis, monitoring statistics, or saving all packets to disk for post-capture forensic analysis.
