The OmniPeek Product Family

The OmniPeek Product Family is WildPackets’ solution for distributed network analysis. The platform consists of OmniPeek™ Enterprise, a centralized management console, and one or more instances of OmniEngine™ Enterprise, a distributed capture-and-analysis application that performs Expert analysis on captured traffic. When running on a system configured with a WildPackets OmniAdapter, OmniEngine Enterprise provides network engineers with full, uninterrupted visibility into Gigabit traffic.

Designed for Real-time Analysis of Gigabit Traffic

Capturing packets at full line rate, the OmniAdapter Gigibit Analyzer Card merges both streams of the full-duplex traffic using synchronized timestamps. The OmniAdapter can also slice and filter packets at full-line rate speeds in order to focus the traffic stream and optimize analysis. The OmniAdapter works in full- or half-duplex environments, copper or fiber, in-line, or via a switch’s port mirror. OmniEngine Enterprise has the ability to do multiple in-line or port mirrors analysis on both sides of a conversation.

OmniEngine Enterprise has been fine-tuned to facilitate processing of Gigabit traffic loads while performing real-time troubleshooting. Adjustable settings in the Performance View allow the user to select optimized performance for the type of analysis required, whether performing real-time analysis, monitoring statistics, or saving all packets to disk for post-capture forensic analysis.

Convenient Choices for Deployment

OmniEngine Enterprise is available as a software application for installation on a standard Windows desktop or laptop PC. For rapid deployment, OmniEngine Enterprise is also available already installed on a WildPackets Omnipliance network appliance.

OmniPeek Enterprise supports WildPackets’ OmniAdapters, hardware specifically designed to handle Gigabit traffic analysis. Capturing packets at full line rate, the OmniAdapter merges both streams of the full-duplex traffic using synchronized timestamps. The OmniAdapters can also slice and filter packets at full line rate speeds in order to focus the traffic stream and optimize analysis. The WildPackets' OmniAdapter is the first Gigabit Analyzer Card that offers sustained analysis over an indefinite period. It uses flow-through capture technology that eliminates limits on the length of a capture and analysis session.

10 Gigabit Analysis

OmniEngine Enterprise and OmniPeek Enterprise support WildPackets’ OmniAdapters 10G, hardware specifically designed to handle 10 Gigabit traffic analysis. Capturing 10 Gigabit network traffic, it can slice and filter packets in order to focus the traffic stream and optimize analysis. The OmniAdapters 10G can be used in fiber, or via SPAN or mirror ports.

WildPackets’ OmniAdapters 10G is a PCI-X, one-port high performance adapter that has been optimized for monitoring and inspecting traffic on a 10 Gigabit Ethernet network.

It's available with 1x850nm MFF XFP or; 1x1310nm SMF XFP optical transceivers with LC connectors.
