Product Activation FAQs |
When you install a Peek product the installer sends a secure message to a web server located at WildPackets. The installer sends the following information: serial number, product information, name, company name, and an ID number associated with your computer. This process will assist us in reducing software piracy, as we can insure that our software is used solely by authorized customers. If you have questions or concerns, please contact us at WildPackets Technical Support. Please log in to MyPeek at https://mypeek.wildpackets.com/. You can access information about your purchase and links to download your software. Please validate your serial number before logging into MyPeek for the first time. You will notice a link that says Validate product Serial Number. Clicking on this link will take you to the Validate Shipped Products page. Please enter your serial number and email address. You only need to validate your serial number one time. Go back to MyPeek using your email address and login password. If you have forgotten your login password, please use the 'Forgotten Password' Option. Yes, there are two ways. 1) We can generate an activation code for you. Choose manual activation and call us with your machine ID number. 2) If you have another machine that has access to the internet go to http://reg.wildpackets.com and fill out the form, an activation code will be generated. Enter the activation code to proceed with the install. If you are trying to activate a current release of EtherPeek and/or AiroPeek, please be sure the Proxy Settings on your computer are properly configured. If you are still having trouble, here are two additional ways to activate your product. 1) We can generate an activation code for you. Choose manual activation and call us with your machine ID number. 2) If you have another machine that has access to the internet go to http://reg.wildpackets.com and fill out the form, an activation code will be generated. Enter the activation code to proceed with the install. We allow the installation of our products on two different computers that are used by the same user, per serial number. The license is a single-user license and the idea is to provide the single user with access to the product from a laptop and a desktop/server. Any installations beyond this would require the purchase of either additional licenses or a less expensive Right to Use license. Yes. As per the WildPackets software license agreement, you may install the software any number of times on 2 (two) machines, each with its own machine ID. If you need to install Peek on another system, we will need the Machine ID of the system that you will un-install Peek from so that we can remove this entry from our activation server. To get the machine identifier, please follow the steps listed below.
The volume serial number is the number we use for the machine identifier. This error is usually caused when the machine ID acquired during the installation process differs from that recorded by the application. We have seen this issue when the application is installed on a remote terminal services machine, and sometimes when logged onto your domain depending on your domain security settings. To obtain the machine identifier, please follow the steps listed below.
The application should now launch and function normally. If you continue to encounter problems launching the application, download the CpuId.zip utility by clicking on the link below. This utility will determine what Machine ID the OS thinks it's using. Please save and unzip the file in an easily accessed directory, such as the root of your C: drive, as you will need to navigate to this directory in the command window. ftp://ftp.wildpackets.com/pub/goodies/cpuid.zip
