Challenging network problems can also be solved without an on-site visit. WildPackets will work with the client over the phone, via email, through Placeware web sessions, or other means to help solve the client's issues. Trace files may be passed back and forth. A WildPackets engineer may also connect to the client's analyzer over a phone line, WAN, or Virtual Private Network and perform analysis by remote control. Live traffic is captured from the client's network so that WildPackets can provide a characterization of network performance and solve network problems. Remote Trace File AnalysisA Remote Trace File Analysis is a standard, fixed-fee service that can give a quick, affordable view into your network. It may be considered a type of 'baseline'. Clients are given direction on how to capture appropriate network traces which are then emailed or burned onto a CD and sent to WildPackets. Our protocol analysis experts then provide an in-depth analysis of the traces. This may require iterative cycles with the customer as necessary, to quantify and isolate pertinent issues. At the end, the client can expect a standard report across common network measures. Peek MentorPeek Mentor is 2-3 hours of private, dedicated, one-on-one time with a WildPackets engineer. Peek Mentor allows you to get an expert set of eyes on your network trace file. Or perhaps you want to learn more about the new OmniPeek interface. Or simply share IT best-practices with a seasoned WildPackets network engineer. Work can be done via the phone, email, webinar, or directly connected to your network as your business needs dictate. Types of ProjectsApplication Performance AnalysisWildPackets professionals have helped customers predict future end user experience for new application rollouts. See also WildPackets commitment to emerging standards for measuring application performance, http://www.apdex.org/ Base Lining and Capacity PlanningPredict future bottlenecks, identify areas to monitor, and recommend infrastructure design/ investment. The creation of a baseline report can be as simple as an evaluation of a single critical server or router or as all encompassing as assessing an overall network infrastructure. Network TroubleshootingOne of the most common questions WildPackets engineers yearn to answer: 'Is it the network or the application?' In one case, a major performance issue was solved by uncovering a forgotten batch routine to a remote printer nowhere near where users were complaining of network degradation. Wireless Site Survey and Security AnalysisWildPackets engineers can quickly assess network topology and major application flows to aid with wireless access point placement and security. In one case, WildPackets absolved the finger pointing regarding access points, and instead helped a major retailer uncover faulty radio equipment in one of the vendor handsets. |
