Intel Quad Port Adapter FAQs

What are the differences between the WildPackets GACs and the Intel 4 Port adapter?
With the Intel MT 1000 adapter, each port on the adapter acts as a separate adapter and captures each gigabit stream separately. The GACs merge both streams of the full-duplex traffic using synchronized timestamps.
I have an Omnipliance and I purchased an Intel 4 port adapter, will I need to install any drivers for the Intel card?
No, you will not need to install any drivers for the Intel card. The Omnipliance will recognize and install the drivers for you.
How do I determine which channel the traffic is coming from?
In the packets view you can right-click on the column headers and add the column ‘channel’ to see which port the packet came in on. You can then filter by channel number.

Don’t Lose The TagsWildPackets’ Technical Support Team regularly receives questions about capturing VLAN (Virtual LAN) tags in packets. Some customers report that they cannot see VLAN tags when capturing packets from their switches. The tags are usually missing because the capture configuration or the location of OmniPeek (or Omni Engine) is incorrect. So, this tip is aimed at understanding VLAN tags and how they can be captured using OmniPeek Product Family.
