Omnipliance

Three on-board Ethernet Network Interface Cards (NICs) are available on the Omnipliance as well as the following supported capture devices:

OmniAdapters

OmniAdapter is a PCI-X card that supports up to 2 full-duplex or 4 half-duplex connections. Taking advantage of a PCI-X bus that clocks up to 133 MHz, the OmniAdapter provides high-performance connectivity for monitoring and troubleshooting Gigabit networks. OmniAdapters can be configured during manufacturing to support multiple configurations of SX, LX, ZX, TX or copper (Ethernet). It’s available with 4 ports SFP cages, 4 ports of RJ45 Ethernet, or 2 RJ45 Ethernet and 2 SFP cages.

Visit our OmniAdapters page for more information.

OmniAdapters 10G

WildPackets’ OmniAdapter 10G is a high performance one-port adapter that has been optimized for monitoring and inspecting traffic on 10 Gigabit Ethernet network. OmniAdapter 10G is available in PCI-X or PCI-E with 1x850nm MFF XFP or; 1x1310nm SMF XFP optical transceivers with LC connectors.

Visit our OmniAdapters 10G page for more information.

Other Gigabit and 10G Capture and Analysis Cards

Intel® PRO/10GbE Cards

WildPackets also offers Intel Pro/10GbE adapter cards to capture 10 Gigabit traffic. The Intel Pro/10GbE cards are an excellent, cost-effective solution for those who want to connect to SPAN or mirror ports.

Span/Mirror Data 10G

They are available in 3 different configurations:

Intel® PRO/10GbE CX4 Server Adapter

A 64-bit Peripheral Component Interconnect Extended (PCI-X) interface running up to 133 MHz with 10GbE-over-copper connection.

  • CX4 copper cable support through CX4 XPAK module - Allows 10GbE connectivity over CX4 copper cable lengths up to 15 m, depending on American Wire Gauge (AWG)
  • 64-bit Peripheral Component Interconnect Extended (PCI-X) interface running up to 133 MHz
  • Built on Intel® lead-free1 technology for RoHS2 compliance - Compliant with the new European Union directive (effective July 2006) to reduce the use of hazardous materials
  • Intel® 82597EX 10GbE PCI-X 133-MHz, 64-bit media access control (MAC) controller
  • Cost-effective, high-speed network connection with low latency

Intel® PRO/10GbE SR Server Adapter

A 64-bit Peripheral Component Interconnect Extended (PCI-X) interface running up to 133 MHz with 10 Gigabit Multi-mode Fiber Server Connection.

  • Cost-effective 10 Gigabit performance on distances up to 300 m
  • Highly integrated PCI-X second-generation silicon for high performance
  • Smaller form factor with XPAK Optical Transceiver fits in standard server PCI slot
  • Intel® 82597EX 10GbE PCI-X 133 MHz/64-bit MAC controller

Intel® PRO/10GbE LR Server Adapter

A 64-bit Peripheral Component Interconnect Extended (PCI-X) interface running up to 133 MHz with 10 Gigabit Single-mode Fiber Server Connection.

  • Extends Ethernet distances up to 10 km
  • Highly integrated PCI-X second-generation silicon for high performance
  • Smaller form factor with XPAK Optical Transceiver fits in standard server PCI slot
  • Intel® 82597EX 10GbE PCI-X 133 MHz/64-bit MAC controller

Full-Duplex WAN Analyzer Card (WAC) (Windows Configuration Only)

The WAN Analyzer Card (WAC) is designed to deliver line rate performance and I/O connectivity for mission critical troubleshooting on today's high-speed wide area networks. The WAC also provides "plug and play" capability which can automatically configure this adapter at startup.

WildPackets WAN technology combines a passive tap that is used to provide a non-intrusive interface to the network, a cable assembly that is used to connect this tap to the WAC adapter, and the adapter itself.

The WAC does not support ATM.

Visit our WAN Analyzer Cards (WACs) page for more information.

Tip of the Month
Don’t Lose The Tags
WildPackets’ Technical Support Team regularly receives questions about capturing VLAN (Virtual LAN) tags in packets. Some customers report that they cannot see VLAN tags when capturing packets from their switches. The tags are usually missing because the capture configuration or the location of OmniPeek (or Omni Engine) is incorrect. So, this tip is aimed at understanding VLAN tags and how they can be captured using OmniPeek Product Family.
