ProConvert can't read the trace file that I saved with AiroPeek 2.0.1/EtherPeek 5.1/EtherPeek NX 2.1/GigaPeek NX 1.0. Why can't ProConvert read my trace file?

AiroPeek 2.0.1/EtherPeek 5.1/EtherPeek NX 2.1/GigaPeek NX 1.0 use a new packet file format when they save out a .pkt trace file. If ProConvert cannot read this new format, open the file in AiroPeek 2.0.1/EtherPeek 5.1/EtherPeek NX 2.1/GigaPeek NX 1.0 and choose Save All Packets..., change the 'Save as type' field on the 'Save As' dialogue to 'EtherPeek Classic Packet File (.pkt) or 'AiroPeek Classic Packet File (.apc)'. Doing this will save out a packet file in the older format, which should be readable in ProConvert.

Does ProConvert support Ethereal?

Yes. As Ethereal supports the libpcap format, simply save your Ethereal trace file with the ".dmp" file extension and you will be able to use ProConvert to convert the trace to the desired package.

Can you convert WinDump Files?

Yes. WinDump uses the same format as other tcpdump packet capture utilities. In order to use ProConvert with the trace file, you'll need to use the '.dmp' file extension.

I'm getting an error message while using ProConvert although I know that it is from a supported file extension. What's wrong?

When receiving an error message from ProConvert, be sure to check what network type and what analyzer the trace came from. ProConvert supports converting Ethernet, Token Ring, FDDI and the wireless LAN 802.11a and 802.11b formats from the supported analyzers. Trace files from other formats such as ATM, Frame Relay, ISDN are not supported at this time. For example, a trace file with a '.cap' or '.dmp' file extension but produced by capturing from a WAN interface would not be supported for conversion with ProConvert.
