* The motherboard interface may not work without network services using this interface. If you experience difficulties, configure AppleTalk services to use this interface while capturing.

** The PowerBook G3 Series is the PowerBook G3 with the large, white Apple logo on the outside. See PowerBook Internal Network Cards section for older PowerBook G3 based on the PowerBook 3400.

*** If running Satellite from a machine with a single Ethernet interface that is not a PCI interface, remove MacTCP (if installed) from the Control Panels folder. If using Open Transport, redirect TCP/IP and AppleTalk Control Panels to a network option other than the one from which you are capturing (or make them inactive).

Mac OS 8.0 and Slot 0: To use Satellite with the built-in interface on a PCI desktop machine under MacOS 8.0, you must first run the Satellite Mac OS 8.0 Compatibility Patch This patch is not needed for MacOS 8.1 or later.

  • Most PowerComputing, UMAX, Motorola & other clones

The following models (with Alchemy motherboards or CommSlot II slots) also require EtherPeek Stellite 2.0 or later:

  • PowerPC 44xx, 54xx, 55xx, 6360, 64xx, 65xx
  • PowerComputing PowerBase series
  • UMAX 500/600

** Must not have network services on this card with Satellite, or you may lose network services or the machine may lock up. Configuring AppleTalk and TCP/IP to use another interface will avoid the problem.

For PowerBook 190 & 5300 there is a direct-slot option available from Focus Enhancements called the MV16-EN, which provides 10baseT Ethernet and 16-bit video output capabilities. Must use the 1.0.4 driver. The 2.0 driver recommended by Focus Enhancements for system 7.6 does not yet support promiscuous capture. Many customers are using the 1.0.4 driver with system 7.6 successfully.

No CommSlot II cards are supported at this time. The following machines are often purchased with a CommSlot II card installed. Currently, in order to operate Satellite from these machines, version 1.2.1 or later and a supported PCI card are required.

  • PowerPC (or Performa) 44xx, 54xx, 55xx, 6360, 64xx, 65xx
  • UMAX 500, 600

We do not support SCSI adapters with Satellite.
